The Skullcandy Air Raid is a fully functional portable speaker. Weighing only 1.1 pounds, this speaker can be taken with you anywhere you go! Just pack it away and enjoy your music. This speaker can also fill up a room with music so the bookshelf is an option as well.
Power Source/ Battery Life
This speaker contains a rechargeable battery, promising hours of music stream. At the highest volume, you can get a full 5 hours use out of it! Mid to high volume gives you 10 hours, and at standard mid volume, get a full 14 hours!
Wireless Standard: Bluetooth
The Skullcandy Air Raid is Bluetooth compatible. It’s the only portable Bluetooth speaker both loud and rugged enough for those who don’t tread lightly. Air Raid delivers easy integration with any Bluetooth-enabled device; this means you can pair it with your iPhone, iPod, or iPad!
Controls
Controls on this speaker are easy to find and press. The two front-facing 2-inch, 5-watt drivers are covered by round, plastic mesh grilles. The center pairing button also acts as a battery status indicator and it also can control track skipping forward or backward when pressed at the same time as the + or – volume controls, or Play/Pause when it is pressed on its own.
Speakerphone
There is no speakerphone capability on the SkullCandy Air Raid.
Ease of Set-up
Set-up is quick and simple. Simply press the power button, and the device comes on within a few seconds. Press the center pairing button in the middle of the speaker, and then search for it in your Bluetooth enabled device. Once you pair them together, you can instantly stream your music.
Stereo Separation
Stereo separation is merely the separation of sounds through the right and left speaker. When listening to the music you may hear the drums through the right speaker and the guitar from the left, this separation mimics the spatial separation within the studio where the music was recorded. This speaker brags 360 degree immersive sound, so the separation you hear is not just right vs left but “all around”.
Wireless Range
Most Bluetooth devices pick up range up to 30 feet. This one is no different. You must be within 30 feet of the speaker in order to properly stream your music. Most would recommend not going any further than 20 feet away, to ensure maximum listening experience.

The Skullcandy Air Raid offers a unique design. This stereo was built with the traveler in mind. It contains a shell which protects it from snow, dirt, and water, thus allowing you to take it virtually anywhere that you go! It is protected by steel and rubber and is make to take a beating and keep on playing…..loudly! The controls are very well marked and easy to use. There is a carrying handle on one end and on the other a spot for a carrying strap if you wish. The color options are awesome and hunters, fisherman alike will like the real tree/dark tan/orange model as it will fit right into camp life.
Sound Quality
The sound quality on this speaker is excellent, but it does lack in some areas. Don’t expect a deep bass response, or you will be disappointed. However, the speakers themselves are extremely loud and powerful, beating out a lot of other speakers in the same category. The unit comes with two 2″ drivers and deliver 5 Watts per channel. The music is clear and very pleasant until you max out the volume, but more perhaps because it is so loud. Overall very pleasing…nice!
