BEATS PILL – PORTABLE OR BOOKSHELF
The Beats Pill by Dr Dre is portable, weighing only 11.5 oz. This means you can take it around with you, anywhere you go! It can also fit on most bookshelf’s if desired.
Power Source/ Battery Life
The Beats Pill contains Rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. At the average sound level of 80 dB, this speaker has the capability of playing your music for 7 hours straight! If you want to play it at a somewhat lower level, you can get 8.5 hours of play.
Wireless Standard: Bluetooth
This speaker can connect to all of your Bluetooth enabled devices. Stream all your music from any Bluetooth-enabled Smartphone, tablet or computer and control your tunes from your device. Comes with tap to pair NFC technology and also with APT-X, a more advanced quality bluetooth streaming. No wires or docks needed, giving you the convenience to start streaming with ease!
Controls
Controls are extremely easy to find on this speaker. Everything you need is located right in the middle of the pill. The power button is located on the back; on the bottom, you will find the volume up and down buttons. The “b” button for bluetooth is located right underneath the power button.
Speakerphone
Unlike a lot of other portable speakers on the market, the Pill does have a speakerphone capability. Easily take phone calls right through your speaker. This is an extra convenience!
Ease of Set-up
Set-up is extremely quick and easy. It powers on within a couple of seconds, and easily pairs with any device. Pairing is an extremely simple and easy process, but may take a few attempts to fully figure it out. Just turn on the speaker, press the “b” button, and search for the Pill on your Bluetooth enabled device.
Stereo Separation
The Beats Pill performs best in the midrange. Even though the speakers on the Pill are outstanding, there is still very little stereo separation. This is an extremely common issue with all smaller speakers, so it is to be expected from this.
Wireless Range
Most Bluetooth devices pick up range up to 30 feet. This one is no different. You must be within 30 feet of the speaker in order to properly stream your music; however, it has been noted that iPod Nanos start losing their range at around 15 feet.

The Pill by Beats offers a truly unique design, unlike anything that you’ve seen on the market before. Take a familiar, ordinary product, such as a portable speaker, and redesign is so that It’s fresh and appealing. That’s exactly what Dr. Dre did! The pill is shaped like a gel cap, and comes in a variety of different colors in order to add to the unique design. You can get black, white, silver ,red, green, and pink.
Sound Quality
The sound quality on this little pill is good You wouldn’t expect such big sound from such a small product, but this one delivers. It is reasonably loud and can easily fill a small room with sound, but music deteriorates if the volume is raised over 80 per cent. At lower volumes, the Beats Pill produces reasonable sound. It’s clear and full and only distorts when there is excessive bass. The speaker has four drivers, and Dr Dre is fairly mum on the technology inside…..

This speaker has above average customer reviews, overall. Most users agree that the sound quality is amazing for such a small device. The unique pill design blows most users away. Most rant and rave about the small size of this, allowing users to easily move around with it in tow. A couple of users do complain about the music reproduction being weak, and the lack of bass. Others believe that it is too expensive for the kind of speaker it is.
Price to Buy Beats Pill Wireless Speaker
Priced at close to the $200 range, it is a little on the pricier side for what it offers. The Dr. Dre name definitely adds to the overall cost. It lacks some important features that other portable speakers contain. However, the ultra lightweight design and unique pill shape makes this a one of a kind product. Overall, we rate it 3.5 out of 5. As new and better wireless speakers are hitting the market, we think you can certainly do better for your money. Heck for a few dollars more the Fugoo Tough Bluetooth Wireless Speaker outshines the Pill in most all areas
