We have been doing a lot of reviews lately on many of the tough and rugged wireless speakers meant for folks on the go. Many of these speakers are selling for under $100 and are loaded with features for outdoor use. We did a review on the Photive HYDRA Rugged Water Resistant Wireless Speaker and was impressed with Photive. We also really like the Photive SOUNDSCAPE 8 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker, still portable, but more refined, and even better sounding. This is a very nice wireless bluetooth speaker that will not hurt the wallet.
Portable or Bookshelf
Weighing only 1 pound, this one is easily portable. This speaker looks great anywhere, kitchen counter, desk top, or bookshelf. The design is appealing.
Power Source/ Battery Life
It contains a lithium Ion Rechargeable Battery, which lasts up to 10 hours! When used on maximum volume, the battery life can last up to 8. Charging is also done very quickly; only takes a couple of hours to fully charge.
Wireless Standard: Bluetooth
This speaker does contain Bluetooth audio streaming capability. It will work with any Bluetooth-enabled device. Bluetooth connectivity allows you to stream all of your favorite music, wirelessly. You have the ability to connect external devices like your iPod, iPad, iPhone, Android, MP3 Player, tablet, PC, etc. Once you are connected, you will be able to easily control your music from a distance of 30-33′ If you don’t have a bluetooth enabled device, don’t worry as It contains a 3.5mm audio connection.
Controls
Controls on this are easy to find, and simple to use. All of the controls are located on the right side of the speaker, so you don’t have to search for them when you need to use them. You will find volume, pairing and power buttons on the side of the unit. This is also a USB power port, auxiliary port and microphone grouped with the unit’s controls.
Speakerphone
One of the greatest features of SOUNDSCAPE 8 is the built in speakerphone capability. That means you can easily switch back and forth between your music, and a phone call. Super convenient!
Ease of Set-up
Set-up is a quick and easy!. Simply turn the device on, and get ready to listen to your favorite tunes. Pairing your bluetooth enabled device is not a difficult process; however, if you struggle with modern technology, this stereo makes pairing extremely easy and you should not encounter any type of problem.
Stereo Separation
Stereo separation is merely the separation of sounds through the right and left speaker. When listening to the music you may hear the drums through the right speaker and the guitar from the left, this separation mimics the spatial separation within the studio where the music was recorded. This speaker does have stereo sound and is a bit wider than most portable units, but as with the other wireless speakers the further you get away from the speaker the harder it is to hear the stereo affect.
Wireless Range
The range is 30-33 feet. That is the distance from your device to the speaker, you need to have the device within that range to avoid losing your connection.
Sound Scape 8 Design
The Soundscape 8 offers an extremely trendy Design; shaped like a pentagon, developed with impressive design elements and Aluminum exterior for an appealing exterior and two display positions. It has a sleek form factor and solid build to it. It also comes in Black or Silver
The SOUNDSCAPE 8′s pair of 50mm drivers are angled up at you, for a better listening experience. There is also a built in subwoofer to deliver some bass.
Sound Quality
The sound quality on this device is superb, far superior than any competitor in this price range. It delivers a deep bass and punchy mid-tones for a 10 watt speaker system, which is similar to mid-range power output when compared to others; you will get a wide range from it than other compact units. The 50mm drivers help the SOUNDSCAPE 8 to outperform the rest!

This speaker has excellent customer reviews all around. Most rave that for the price, the sound quality is excellent. Others like the fact that is it lightweight enough to take around with them, and the wireless range is one of the best in its class. The durability factor is impressive, overall.
Price
Priced at around $60, this speaker can not be beat. It has impressive features that other speakers in the same price range lack, such as the speakerphone capability, length of battery life, looks, and sound quality. Overall, if you are looking for a high performance portable bluetooth speaker that won’t break the bank, the Photive SOUNDSCAPE 8 is the right speaker for you. We really like this speaker and give it a higher rating than we did the Photive HYDRA. Our rating is a stellar 4.8….nice job Photive!
